Research Interests: I am conducting my research in the Statistical Analysis of Networks and Systems (SANS) Research Group . SANS is part of the Computer Networks and Distributed Systems (CNDS) Research Group, accredited by UPC and accredited by AGAUR (Agencia d'Gestió d'Ajuts Universitaris i de Recerca) de la Generalitat de Catalunya as a Consolidated Research Group. The CompNet Research Group currently is leaded by Prof. Jorge García Vidal and was born at the beginning of the 90's. During the 90's, our research activities were focussed on Broadband Communications with special emphasis in ATM networks and performance evaluation. We have also researched on Internet Topology (BGPv4 and Internet topology) and TCP/IP protocol design, MAC protocols for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN), Multimedia Wireless Sensor Networks (WMSN), VANETs, DTNs (Delay/Disruptive Tolerant Networks), Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANET), Mobility models for opportunistic networking, "Human mobility patterns" (Smart Data) from mobility traces, e.g. taken from mobile phones, IoT devices, etc..

My current areas of interest aim to investigate the application of data-driven techniques for obtaining maximum accuracy in the data captured by IoT devices equipped with low-cost sensors. My main research outcome is to produce beyond the state-of-the-art techniques applied to IoT monitoring networks by applying ML&AI techniques, such as deep learning, graphical signal processing, graph neural networks, sparse signal reconstruction and quantum algorithms, among others, to improve data quality at the capture, estimation and network-wide processing layers in IoT monitoring networks. Applications range from air quality, climate change, precision agriculture, digital twins for industrial applications such as refrigeration cameras.
